This FAQ is to help you answer:
Metric 1: If the organization is active in high-impact climate sectors (Y/N)
Metric 2: High-impact climate sector(s) in which the organization is active (Text dropdown)
Answering Metric 1 and 2:

Determine what your primary economic activity is (Further guidance: What is the primary economic activity of my organization? ).

Identify the NACE code of your primary economic activity by consulting the NACE Classification or NACE Manual (links in the glossary below).

Check whether the NACE code of your primary economic activity is listed in Sections A to H and Section L of the NACE Classification.
List of HICS - Sections A to H and Section L:
- Section A - Agriculture, Forestry, and Fishing
- Section B - Mining and Quarrying
- Section C - Manufacturing
- Section D - Electricity, Gas, Steam, and Air Conditioning Supply
- Section E - Water Supply, Sewerage, Waste Management and Remediation Activities

Provide the answer to the data request
- For Metric 1: “If the organization is active in high-impact climate sectors (Y/N)”:
- If your NACE code falls under any of the high-impact sectors listed and/or your organization’s business operates in any of those sectors directly, then please select “Y”.
- If your NACE code does not fall under any of these high-impact sectors and/or your organization’s business does not operate in any of those sectors directly, then please select “N”.
- For Metric 2: “High impact climate sector(s) in which the organization is active (dropdowns)”:
- If your NACE code falls under any of the high-impact sectors listed and/or your organization’s business operates in any of those sectors directly, then please select from the text dropdown field your relevant HICS option.
- If your NACE code does not fall under any of these high-impact sectors and/or your organization’s business does not operate in any of those sectors directly, then please click the “Omit” button and select your reasoning for omitting, for example “not applicable”.

HICS - High-impact climate sectors. HICS are economic industries that have a significant impact on both the environment and society.
NACE - Nomenclature of Economic Activities. NACE is a standardized framework established by the European Union to categorize economic activities across its member states.
Link - NACE Classification (Annex I to Regulation (EC) No 1893/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council (18) as defined in Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2022/1288 (19)).
