How do I answer metrics: Energy consumption per high-impact climate sector & Gross revenue per high-impact climate sector

This FAQ is to help you answer:

Metric 1: Energy consumption per high-impact climate sector

Metric 2: Gross revenue per high-impact climate sector

These two HICS metrics are frequently requested for regulatory reporting purposes, however, often they are not directly relevant to reporting organizations. Please check first, if you are required to answer these metrics by answering the following condition:

Condition: Does your organization’s NACE code fall under any of the listed high-impact climate sectors?

If yes:

  • Please skip to sections Answering Metric 1: Energy consumption per high-impact climate sector & Answering Metric 2: Gross revenue per high-impact climate sector.

If no:

  • Please click the “Omit” button for both metrics and select/enter the reason for omitting e.g., “not applicable”.

If unsure / not aware of what your organization’s NACE code is or if it falls under a high-impact climate sector:

  • Please read the FAQs mentioned above before answering the condition.

Answering Metric 1: Energy consumption per high-impact climate sector

  1. Ensure you have submitted data for the associated metrics:

    • If the organization is active in high-impact climate sectors (Y/N)
    • High-impact climate sector(s) in which the organization is active (Dropdown Select)

  2. Obtain the NACE code of your primary economic activity and determine your organization’s relevant high-impact climate sector.

  3. Click on the metric “Energy consumption per high-impact climate sector”

    • Select your relevant high-impact climate sector;
    • Choose your desired input unit;
    • Enter the corresponding energy consumption input value for your HICS.

Please note that it is not necessary to submit “0” as a result for the high-impact climate sectors that are not relevant to your organization.

Answering Metric 2: Gross revenue per high-impact climate sector

  1. Ensure you have submitted data for the associated metrics:

    • If the organization is active in high-impact climate sectors (Y/N)
    • High-impact climate sector(s) in which the organization is active (Dropdown Select)

  2. Obtain the NACE code of your primary economic activity and determine your organization’s relevant high-impact climate sector.

  3. Click on the metric “Gross revenue per high-impact climate sector”:

    • Select your relevant high-impact climate sector;
    • Choose your desired input unit;
    • Enter the corresponding gross revenue input value for your HICS.

Please note that it is not necessary to submit “0” as a result for the high-impact climate sectors that are not relevant to your organization.

Ensure consistency in the data you have provided for all metrics related to the high-impact climate sector. Example of consistent reporting:

NACE - Nomenclature of Economic Activities. NACE is a standardized framework established by the European Union to categorize economic activities across its member states.

Link - NACE Classification (Annex I to Regulation (EC) No 1893/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council (18) as defined in Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2022/1288 (19)).
