How can I export to the official Invest Europe Excel template for investor reporting?

The Invest Europe Template Export makes ESG reporting easier and more standardized across European investors. This article explains what it is, how it helps, how to use it, and what to keep in mind before sharing your data.

What is the Invest Europe Reporting Template?

For the 2024 reporting cycle, most European investors have agreed to align around a common data structure and a standardized set of requested information for ESG and portfolio reporting. Invest Europe, in collaboration with many partners, has developed a new standardized Excel ESG reporting template, which many investors across Europe have now adopted (The template can be found here). The Invest Europe Excel makes it much easier for GPs to share data with multiple investors at once — significantly reducing the need for double work, manual reformatting, or creating customized reports for each investor.

How can the Invest Europe export help you?

Atlas Metrics has built a new export feature that allows you to directly download your data in the official Invest Europe template format - without the need for manual mapping or reformatting. This makes it much faster and easier to share accurate data with multiple investors at once.

Is the Invest Europe export available by default?

The Invest Europe Export feature is available to selected customers who have purchased the relevant module. If you would like to access this feature, please contact us [here].

How can I use the Invest Europe export?

You can find the export feature directly in your account:

  1. Go to the Disclosure tab.
  2. In the top right, click Export.

Make sure to submit all tasks in your account before exporting, so that all relevant information is included in the export. You can use the bulk submit feature to quickly submit multiple tasks at once.

How will the download be structured?

The export will be a single Excel file, including:

  • GP Level Information: One tab with your GP-level data.
  • Fund Level Information: One tab per fund with fund-specific data.
  • Portfolio Company Information: One tab per fund listing all portfolio companies attached to that fund.

Important
1. If you have multiple funds, you will receive one Fund sheet and one Portfolio sheet for each fund.
2. For the "2.2 Emissions" section, emissions are entered based on the methodology selected for each scope. If no methodology is specified for Scope 2 emissions, the higher value (location-based or market-based) will be automatically added to the total Scope 2 emissions.

How can I share the Invest Europe Template with investors?

Once you have downloaded your Invest Europe Export, you can use it to report to multiple investors by simply sharing the file with them - as long as they accept the new Invest Europe format.

While many investors have aligned on how the data is structured, there are still some differences in how they prefer to receive the file (e.g., splitting certain tabs, adding notes, or following specific delivery instructions).

Below is an overview of known differences by investor:
